❊ Unsupervised Minor Privilege

The Madison Community Pool offers a limited Unsupervised Minor Privilege for eligible youth. This allows certain children to visit the pool without a parent or guardian present, provided all requirements are met.

This privilege is designed to support independence while maintaining a safe and respectful environment for all members.

Age Requirement (Phased Implementation)

To ensure a safe and successful rollout, the minimum age will increase over time:

  • 2026 Season: Age 10+

  • 2027 Season: Age 11+

  • 2028 Season and beyond: Age 12+

All participants must meet the minimum age requirement for the given season.

Eligibility Requirements

To participate in the Unsupervised Minor Privilege program, the following must be completed:

  • Successful completion of the Deep Water Test

  • A signed Unsupervised Minor Privilege Waiver & Acknowledgment by a parent or guardian (completed poolside with management)

  • Active membership in good standing

Expectations & Responsibilities

Children participating in this program are expected to demonstrate maturity, responsibility, and respect for others at all times.

By granting this privilege, parents/guardians acknowledge that:

  • They remain responsible for the conduct and safety of their child while on pool property

  • Their child must follow all Madison Community Pool rules and Code of Conduct

  • Pool staff, including lifeguards and management, have full authority to enforce all rules

Important: This Is a Privilege

The Unsupervised Minor Privilege is not a right — it is a privilege that may be revoked at any time.

This may occur if:

  • Pool rules or the Code of Conduct are violated

  • Behavior is deemed unsafe, disruptive, or inappropriate

  • Staff determine supervision is required for any reason

If revoked, a parent or guardian may be required to accompany the child for future visits.

Safety Comes First

While this program allows for independent visits, parental supervision is always encouraged.

Our goal is to provide a safe, enjoyable environment for all members while supporting age-appropriate independence.
