❊ Deep Water Test

The safety of our swimmers is a top priority at the Madison Community Pool. The Deep Water Test (DWT) helps ensure that young swimmers have the skills and confidence necessary to safely enjoy all areas of the pool.

New for 2027: No Annual Re-Test for Returning Swimmers

Swimmers who successfully completed the Deep Water Test during the 2026 season will automatically have their DWT status carried over for the 2027 season. There is no need to complete the test again.

Swimmers who did not complete the Deep Water Test in 2026, including new members, must successfully complete the test before receiving deep-water privileges.

Pool Management and lifeguard staff reserve the right to require any swimmer to complete or repeat the Deep Water Test at any time if there are concerns regarding the swimmer’s ability to safely use the deep-water areas of the pool.

Taking the Deep Water Test

Deep Water Tests are administered by MCP lifeguard staff during designated testing times. Swimmers must successfully demonstrate the required swimming skills to receive deep-water privileges.

Additional information regarding 2027 testing times and procedures will be available prior to the start of the season.
